This 5 page report discusses the Major League Baseball strike of 1994 in the context of labor and management negotiations and the advice offered in the 1981 book “Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement without Giving in” by Roger Fisher and William Ury. Had the players’ association and the owners been willing to seriously consider and apply the principles presented in Fisher and Ury’s 1981 book, “Getting to Yes,” the publicly-aired negativity could have been lessened, the resentment might have been contained, and an equitable agreement might have been reached without the negation of an entire baseball season. The Career Of Sports Broadcasting
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Once relegated to the mundane composition of black and white print, the career of sports broadcasting has blossomed into a prestigious, high paying position of contemporary radio and television. The thrill of instant gratification, close proximity to the players and the dazzle of television are just some of the reasons why the career of sports broadcasting has become so popular during the latter part of the twentieth century. A job in sports media today is not like it was in the 1950s, where the primary task of writing up the game review and publishing it in the next day's paper was about as exciting as it got. Today, the thrill of live television and radio, coupled with the significant technological advancements in this particular media field, have made sports broadcasting a career to covet. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

The Economics of Baseball in the 21st Century
[ send me this paper ]
This 7 page report discusses the issues associated with the fact that baseball is big business. The acrimonious strike by major-league baseball players in 1994 and 1995 dealt the game a terrible blow. But the strike only confirmed what baseball fans already knew. Each new season sees the game’s best players competing for the title of highest-paid athlete. But in terms of the economics of baseball, issues such as salary caps, revenue sharing, and whether or not there is truly a bias in favor of “big money-big market” teams have earned a greater amount of attention than many of the nuances of baseball. This paper examines the fact that there should be a greater level of parity in baseball. Nobody denies that the character and promotion of baseball has changed. This paper looks at issues and solutions regarding those changes and their resolution. Bibliography lists 12 annotated sources and copies of those sources.
